About Us

Commodore Productions is the student-run production group at Gulf Coast State College, responsible for creating shows, promos, and broadcasting live events on campus. Founded in 2013 alongside the launch of the college’s Bachelor of Science in Digital Media degree, Commodore Productions has since produced thousands of videos, live broadcasts, and publications—many of which can be viewed on the organization’s official YouTube channel.

The group provides students with hands-on experience in every aspect of video production, from concept development and scripting to filming, editing, and post-production. Students gain practical training with professional-grade cameras, lighting, and audio equipment, as well as industry-standard editing software, adobe. This real-world experience helps students build strong technical skills, creative storytelling abilities, and confidence working in a fast-paced production environment.

When students join the Commodore Productions team, they meet monthly in the CHC Building to discuss upcoming events, shows, and projects. During these meetings, members collaborate on planning and production logistics—assigning crew roles, preparing equipment, and setting production schedules. By the time an event arrives, the team is ready to tackle it head-on, capturing high-quality footage and delivering polished, professional content that showcases the creativity and talent of Gulf Coast State College students.
